Hi there everyone, hope you all enjoyed your cage
diving excursion with marine dynamics. Below is a list of water conditions and
stats about the sharks sighted on your trip, along with the best photos of the
day.
Date: 05-04-07
Location: Geldesteen: dyer island
Sea condition: Calm, flat
Water Temperature: 13.0C
Wind direction: W
Current direction: E
Wind speed: 5kts
Water visibility: 7m
Cloud coverage: 100%
Water depth: 14.0m
Bait Type: Yellowfin and skip jack tuna, sardine oil
Arrival time: 09:30
No of sharks sighted: 6
Respective individual lengths: >2.0m, 2.8m, 3.5m, 3.5m, 2.0m, 3.5m.
Note: Individuals 1, 2 and 3 were identified as male sharks and number 5 was a
female. All divers in the cage got some great sightings of the sharks.
Visibility was also very good so the sharks could be seen clearly from both
below and above the water. Individual 1 was very active around the cage and
managed to take the bait a number of times giving some great entertainment. Hope

Date: 04-04-07 (2nd trip)
Location: Geldesteen: dyer island
Sea condition: Choppy
Water Temperature: 11.5C
Wind direction: W
Current direction: E
Wind speed: 5kts
Water visibility: 5m
Cloud coverage: 80%
Water depth: 12.7m
Bait Type: Yellowfin and skip jack tuna, sardine oil
Arrival time: 13:25
No of sharks sighted: 3
Respective individual lengths: >2.0m, 3.0m, 2.8m.
Note: Individuals 1 and 2 were identified as female sharks and individual 3 was
identified as a male. Although it took a while for the sharks to show it was
definitely worth the wait when they did! Individual 2 came in close to the cage
and was very relaxed giving the divers in the cage a good look. Shark number 2
was very curious as she circled the boat having a close look at the cage. Hope

Location: Geldesteen: dyer island

Water Temperature: 11.5C
Wind direction: NW
Current direction: SE
Wind speed: 5kts
Water visibility: 5m
Cloud coverage: 100%
Water depth: 11.0m
Bait Type: Yellowfin and skip jack tuna, sardine oil
Arrival time: 09:30
No of sharks sighted: 6
Respective individual lengths: 3.0m, 2.5m, 4.8m, 2.5-3.0m, 2.5-3.0m, >3.0m.
Note: Individuals 2 and 5 were identified as female sharks and number 4 was
identified as a male. All divers entering the cage got some excellent sightings
of the sharks, especially individual 2 who was very active around the boat.
Individual 1 was a resight from 02-04-07 having 3 large scars across the dorsal
fin on the left side. Very lucky to see such a large shark swimming around the

Water Temperature: 11.8C
Wind direction: S
Current direction: N
Wind speed: 5kts
Water visibility: 6m
Cloud coverage: 20%
Water depth: 12.3m
Bait Type: Yellowfin and skip jack tuna, sardine oil
Arrival time: 12:20 (second anchor)
No of sharks sighted: 6
Respective individual lengths: 4.5m, 2.5m, 2.5m, 2.5-3.0m, 2.5m, 4.5m.
Note: Very successful day. Individuals 1, 3 and 4 were identified as female
sharks. Very lucky to see such large sharks swimming around the boat. These
large sharks were also very relaxed so came in close to the cage allowing the
divers to have a close up look. Visibility again was good so all divers got some
excellent sightings of the sharks around the cage. Hope everyone enjoyed the

Arrival time: 11:00 (second anchor)
No of sharks sighted: 10
Respective individual lengths: 3.0m, 3.5m, >2.0m, 2.0m, 3.5m, 2.0m, 3.0m, 2.5m,
4.0m, 2.5m.
Note: Individuals 1, 2 and 10 were identified as female sharks and individual 9
was a male. Very fortunate to see so many sharks in such a short space of time.
All divers entering the cage got some great sightings as visibility was also
very good. Individuals 5 and 9 were resights from 01-04-07 and shark number 4,
having the dorsal fin bent to the left, was a resight from the summer. Also very
lucky to see the humpback dolphins just outside the harbour! Hope everyone

Respective individual lengths: 3.5m, 3.5m, 2.0m, 3.5m, 2.0-2.5m.
Note: Individuals 4 and 5 were identified as male sharks and number 2 was
identified as a female. Very lucky to see this many large sharks swimming around
the cage in such a short space of time. Visibility was excellent so divers in
the cage got some good sightings of the sharks. Shark number 1 was a resight
from 29-03-07 and was identified by a large scar on the leading side of the
dorsal fin. Individual 2 was also a resight from earlier in the week with 3
large scars on the right side of the dorsal fin. Hope everyone enjoyed the day!
