Great White Shark cage diving trip  29/06/2007

Hi there everyone, hope you all enjoyed your cage diving excursion with marine dynamics. Below is a list of water conditions and stats about the sharks sighted on your trip, along with the best photos of the day.
Date: 29-06-07

Location:  Geldsteen

Sea condition: Flat calm

Water Temperature: 15.6C

Wind direction: W

Current direction: E

Wind speed: 1-4kts

Water visibility: 5-6m

Cloud coverage: 0%

Respective individual lengths: 2.5m, 3.0m, 2.5m, 4.0m, 4.0m, 4.0m, 4.0m, 1.5m
Note: Today's trip was a perfect example that patience is a virtue.  Starting off slowly, three sharks were sighted at our first destination.   The first was identified as a male, while the others came and went too fast for us to correctly identify their sex.  At the third location, five sharks were sighted, giving some excitement to the afternoon.  The fourth and eighth sharks sighted were both female, while the fifth, sixth, and seventh were identified as males.  This afternoon session had some spectacular runs on the bait and the decoy. Many thanks to all, regards.

Great White Shark cage diving trip  23/06/2007

Hi there everyone, hope you all enjoyed your cage diving excursion with marine dynamics. Below is a list of water conditions and stats about the sharks sighted on your trip, along with the best photos of the day.
Date: 23-06-07

Location: Geyser Rock

Sea condition: calm

Water Temperature: 15.4 C

Wind direction: NW turned W 10:55am

Current direction: SE

Wind speed: 5kts

Water visibility: 2-3m

Cloud coverage: misty

Water depth: 20.5m

Bait Type: Sardine and longfin tuna

Arrival time: 10:00 am

No of sharks sighted: 7

Respective individual lengths: 2.5m, 3.0m, 3.0m, 2.5-3.0m, <2.0m, 3.0m, 2.5-3.0m
Note: Very successful trip, very fortunate to see so many sharks. Individuals one to four were all identified as male sharks. Shark 7 was a resight from two trips previously, an inquisitive shark with distinctive scar markings on the left side of the dorsal fin. All divers enjoyed the cage but due to a constantly changing wind direction experienced better water visibility from on the surface. luckily the injured cape fur seal that appeared around the boat made a lucky escape! many thanks to all, regards.

Hi there everyone, hope you all enjoyed your cage diving excursion with marine dynamics. Below is a list of water conditions and stats about the sharks sighted on your trip, along with the best photos of the day.
Date: 22-06-07

Location: Geyser Rock

Sea condition: calm

Water Temperature: 15.3 C

Wind direction: NW

Current direction: SE

Wind speed: 5kts

Water visibility: 4-5m

Cloud coverage: 10%

Water depth: 16.4m

Bait Type: Sardine and longfin tuna

Arrival time: 09:35 am

No of sharks sighted: 8

Respective individual lengths: 3.2m, 1.5m, 2.5m, 1.5-2.0m, 2.0m, 2.2m, 2.2m, 3.4m
Note: Beautiful skies and calm seas led to a fantastic sea day for everyone on board. The first and sixth sharks were identified as females, while the third, fourth, fifth, seventh, and eighth were males. Unfortunately we were not able to properly identify the sex of the second shark, a juvenile. The first shark, in particular, gave great viewing with her lunges towards the bait, and her curiosity with the cage. A rare sighting of three sharks at once only added to the excitement. Many thanks to all, regards.

Hi there everyone, hope you all enjoyed your cage diving excursion with marine dynamics. Below is a list of water conditions and stats about the sharks sighted on your trip, along with the best photos of the day.
Date: 21-06-07

Location: Dyer Island (behind)

Sea condition: calm

Water Temperature: 15.2 C

Wind direction: W

Current direction: E

Wind speed: 5kts

Water visibility: 5m

Cloud coverage: 0%

Water depth: 20.5m

Bait Type: Sardine and longfin tuna

Arrival time: 09:35 am

No of sharks sighted: 6

Respective individual lengths: 2.5m, 3.0m, 3.2m, 3.5m, 3.0m, 3.5m
Note: Sharks 1, 4 and 5 were identified as female the rest as male. Shark three had a very inquisitive nature and stuck around the longest. Shark three had very distinctive scratches along the dorsal fin on the right side and also gave the divers some nice passes by the cage. Behaviour of the sharks in general around the boat was very relaxed and inquisitive, which made up for the fact visibility from the cage was still turbid. Many thanks to all, regards.

Great White Shark cage diving trip  20/06/2007

Hi there everyone, hope you all enjoyed your cage diving excursion with marine dynamics. Below is a list of water conditions and stats about the sharks sighted on your trip, along with the best photos of the day.
Date: 20-06-07

Location: Geldsteen (2nd anchor)

Sea condition: Calm

Water Temperature: 16.0 C

Wind direction: E

Current direction: W

Wind speed: 5kts

Water visibility: 2.0 m

Cloud coverage: 0%

Water depth: 14.0 m

Bait Type: Sardine and longfin tuna

Arrival time: 12:15pm

No of sharks sighted: 4

Respective individual lengths: 2.0-2.5m, 2.0m, 2.0m, 2.5m
Note: Excellent trip despite the fact the wind dropped to an easterly and water visibility plummeted down to 2.0m (result of storm churning up sediment in the water). Eventually on the 2nd anchor 4 sharks arrived, the second individual staying around for over an hour. Sharks one and four were females, two and three males. Shark two had a distinctive pigmentation patch on the right side of that dorsal fin and had a very inquisitive nature towards the decoy and the bait...making for excellent photography! Hope all enjoyed, many thanks.
