Note* After an hour at the island and just a fleeting visit by one shark we moved inshore to find eleven sharks, very lucky! Shark2 was identified as a male and shark 12 as a female. shark 10 was our largest individual and very active around the boat, with interesting pigmentation patch on the dorsal fin and notches (See photo attached). Water visibility allowed excellent cage viewing, many thanks to all and hope you all enjoyed, regards.

Shark cage diving trip 27/02/07

Hi there everyone! Hope that you enjoyed your Great white shark excursion with Marine dynamics. Attached to this email is a few photos from your shark trip along with a list of water conditions and factors influencing your sightings plus sharks stats.

Date: 27/02/07
Location: Joubertsdam
Water Temperature: 16-17 C
Water visability: 3-4m
Sea condition: moderate-swell
Cloud coverage: 90% morning, 30% afternoon Wind speed: 5kts Wind direction: W turned S Current direction: E Water depth: 12.2m Bait type: Skip jack Tuna, sardine oil Arrival time: 09:35 am Number of sharks sighted: 6 Respective individual lengths: 2.5m, 1.5m, 2.0m, 1.5m, 2.5m, 3.2m

Note* First shark was a resight from four years running! The nick on her upper lobe tail makes her quite unique and the skipper was delighted to recognise her again this year. Shark5 had also a nick on the tail and some seal scars visable on the snout, can be seen in photo attatched. In all slow start but we were rewarded for our patience with larger..more inquisitive sharks turning up in the afternoon. Visability much clearer than previous trip, indicating the plankton blooms moved on, in all excellent days viewing! many thanks, regards.

Location: Joubertsdam

Water visibility: 1m
Sea condition: moderate-swell
Cloud coverage: 90%
Wind speed: 10kts
Wind direction: SW turned S
Current direction: NE
Water depth: 16.3m

Arrival time: 09:30 am
Number of sharks sighted: 5
Respective individual lengths: 2.0m, 2.5m, 2.5m, 3.0m, 3.5m

Note* Great day, bad visibility due to plankton bloom and warmer influx of water, however I got some of the best photos yet from the surface (see those attached). Individual number 4 was identified as male, difficult to see scar markings on sharks flanks but all were believed to be new sharks and not re-sights from previous trips. Hope you all enjoyed regards, Alison.

Shark cage diving trip 25/02/07

Hi there everyone! Hope that you enjoyed your Great white shark excursion with Marine dynamics. A few photos from your shark trip along with a list of water conditions and factors influencing your sightings plus sharks stats.

Date: 25/02/07
Location: Joubertsdam
Water Temperature: 19 C
Water visibility: 2.0m
Sea condition: moderate-choppy
Cloud coverage: 40%
Wind speed: 8kts
Wind direction: NW turned W
Current direction: E
Water depth: 14.0m
Bait type: Skip jack Tuna, sardine oil
Arrival time: 09:50 am
Number of sharks sighted: 1
Respective individual lengths: 3.5m

Note* With great white sharks its definitely quality not quantity! We were so lucky to have a nice sized shark stay with us for the whole trip allowing all divers to get into the cage and have a view! Our shark was identified as a male, with a distinctive patch above his right eye and a scar down his right flank. Very relaxed individual, made a few passes at the bait and came up close to the cage regularly whilst circling the boat. Visibility wasn't great so that helped! Hope you all enjoyed the trip up to dyer island also, very lucky as our shark arrived five minutes after we did at Joubertsdam so not too much of a wait. Many thanks to all, regards.
