Shark cage diving trip 24/02/07

Sorry - camera (wo)man was shaken by shark views.
Hi there everyone! Hope that you enjoyed your Great white shark excursion with Marine dynamics. A few photos from your shark trip along with a list of water conditions and factors influencing your sightings plus sharks stats.

Date: 24/02/07
Location: Joubertsdam
Water Temperature: 15 C
Water visibility: 4.5-5.5m
Sea condition: calm
Cloud coverage: 20%
Wind speed: 5kts
Wind direction: W
Current direction: E
Water depth: 13.2m
Bait type: Skip jack Tuna, sardine oil
Arrival time: 09:30 am
Number of sharks sighted: 11
Respective individual lengths: 1.5m, 2.0m, 2.5m, 2.0m, 2.0m, 3.0m, 3.0m, 2.5m, 1.0m, 1.0m, 3.5m

Note* shark 6 was a re-sight of our shark 'scar' who has a very prominent propeller scar on his back by the dorsal fin. See web site for pictures of how the scar was compared to today (day trip date 19-02-07)..it has healed over somewhat quickly. Visibility in the cage was brilliant..4-5metres at least, so some nice views were experienced by all. The last shark was a little 'inquisitive' towards the cage...great sighting for the last divers.
In all very exciting day, eleven great white sharks in one trip is a fantastic result I'm sure you'll all agree! Many thanks and kind regards.

Shark cage diving trip 23/02/07

Hi there everyone! Hope that you enjoyed your Great white shark excursion with Marine dynamics. Just a few photos from your shark trip along with a list of water conditions and factors influencing your sightings plus sharks stats.

Date: 23/02/07
Location: Joubertsdam
Water Temperature: 14 C
Water visability: 1.5m
Sea condition: choppy
Cloud coverage: 40%
Wind speed: 10kts
Wind direction: SE.. turned South @ 11.30 Current direction: NW Water depth: 13.6m Bait type: Skip jack Tuna, sardine oil Arrival time: 09:45 am Number of sharks sighted: 7 Respective individual lengths: 2.0m, 3.0m, 2.5m, 2.0m, 2.0m, 2.0m, 3.0m

Note* The first shark to arrive was identified as a male, Shark six had interesting pigmentation marks on the dorsal fin. Water visability was extremley murky (1.5m max) affecting the cage viewings somewhat however still very fortunate to see 7 indiviual great white sharks. Typical the last shark..also the largest shark came right next to the boat and lifted its head out the water just after we took the cage out! Unpredictable fish..just a reminder that as humans we can never control wild animals. Many thanks and i hope you all enjoyed!

Shark cage diving trip 22/02/07

Hi there everyone! Hope that you enjoyed your Great white shark excursion with Marine dynamics. Attached to this email is a few photos from your shark trip along with a list of water conditions and factors influencing your sightings plus sharks stats.

Date: 22/02/07
Location: Joubertsdam
Water Temperature: 20 C
Water visability: 1.5m
Sea condition: choppy
Cloud coverage: 90%
Wind speed: 15kts
Wind direction: NE
Current direction: SW
Water depth: 14.0m
Bait type; yellowfin Tuna, sardine oil
Arrival time: 10:20am
Number of sharks sighted: 7
Respective individual lengths: 2.5m, 3.0m, 3.0m, 1.5m, 3.0m, 2.5m, 4.0m

Note* Individual number three was identified as a male shark. Number seven was a larger shark with white pigmentation patches on the dorsal fin. The first shark had a characteristic 'nick' on top of caudal fin. After a long wait we were rewarded with 7 seperate sharks, the final shark dwarfed the divers cage in size...extremley good luck and again an example of patience being a virtue. Visability was poor due to high turbidity from water conditions and spring tide however still some close up views from in the cage.. many thanks and hope you all enjoyed!

Individual number three had a characteristic pigmentation patch round its eye, identified as a resight from previous days ago by the island. In all, good days viewing and we were very lucky to encounter a pod of indo pacific humpback dolphins on entering the marina!
