Hi there everyone, hope you all enjoyed your cage
diving excursion with marine dynamics. Below is a list of water conditions and
stats about the sharks sighted on your trip, along with the best photos of the
day.
Date: 21-03-07
Location: Dyer Island: Geldesteen
Sea condition: Calm
Water Temperature: 11.5 C
Wind direction: SE
Current direction: NW
Wind speed: 5kts
Water visibility: 5m
Cloud coverage: 10%
Water depth: 12.0m
Bait Type: Yellowfin and skip jack tuna, sardine oil
Arrival time: 08:50 am
No of sharks sighted: 2
Respective individual lengths: 2.0m, 2.0m
Note: Very cold water again, influencing the behaviour of the sharks. Both
individuals were females with individual one having heavy scar markings on the
dorsal fin. Those divers who were lucky enough to see the sharks form the cage
observed a few passes to the bait, again an example of nature being
unpredictable! Many thanks to all and hope you enjoyed the trip, regards.

Hi there everyone, hope you all enjoyed your cage
diving excursion with marine dynamics. Below is a list of water conditions and
stats about the sharks sighted on your trip, along with the best photos of the
day.
Date:
20-03-07
Location: Dyer Island: Geldesteen
Sea condition: Calm
Water Temperature: 10 C
Wind direction: S turned SE
Current direction: W
Wind speed: 5kts
Water visibility: 3m
Cloud coverage: 10%
Water depth: 10.3m
Bait Type: Yellowfin and skip jack tuna, sardine oil
Arrival time: 08:40 am
No of sharks sighted: 4
Respective individual lengths: 2.0m, 1.5m, 2.5m, 2.0m
Note: After a wait some good sightings were had from the cage. Individual 2 was
the smallest shark, a juvenile, and all sharks remained very passive to the
bait, most likely down to energy conserving in the very cold water (10C). Still
enjoyed many seals around the boat, having thick coats with lots of fatty
blubber makes the colder temperatures much more bearable if your a cape fur
seal! Many thanks to all and hope you all enjoyed the trip to the island also.

Note: The largest shark (3.5m) was identified as a male and the final shark had
a spaghetti tag attached to the left side of dorsal fin. Also the first shark
had the tip missing from its dorsal fin.. possibly due to a boat propeller
unfortunately. In all a very successful trip, well done to those of you entering
the cage in such cold water! Sure it was worth it when the sharks swam past, and
the visibility allowed some nice viewings. many thanks to all, regards.

Wind direction: S

Wind speed: 10kts
Water visibility: 3m

'Stumpy' was shark 5, a re-sight from previous years with the upper lobe of the
caudal fin missing (tail). Some large sharks did arrive but a little bit of a
wait, water was too cold to spend prolonged periods of time in the cage! Still
good visibility for watching the seals swim by the cage! 5 sharks in total still
a very successful trip, thanks to all and hope you enjoyed it.
